Email is a powerful tool for communication employed by nearly everyone. It helps us stay connected with family, send friends cat videos, get offers from our favorite companies, and maybe even get notifications from our place of business. The fact that it’s so prevalent and easy to use, can lull us into a false sense of security, especially if you depend on it for business.

With the Internet, we have gained a powerful tool for using and gathering information. The way we access information has changed as well. Especially with the explosive growth of smartphones. Our beloved handheld devices have put the Internet at our fingertips. Google has grown to be the most popular go-to search engine. Now that discussion you used to have between friends arguing back and forth on a contested point can be solved in seconds with a simple Google search to prove once and for all who is right.  Stories with great exaggerations, or useless random trivia can now be fact checked and proved or disproved immediately. We call this "Google Fu."

Working in the tech support industry, I've worked with everyone from the super tech savvy to the computer illiterate. One thing I've noticed with people of all skill levels is that many people are afraid to update software, hardware, firmware, etc. You name it; they don't want to do it. Here, I will share with you why you should update and some best practices.

Updates: They Won't Hurt You

A leading reason for update aversion is fear. I have heard so many stories from noob users and power users both, who have had an update go bad, and now they are nervous about updating anything.  Don't let one bad experience ruin the beautiful world of updates.

In my last blog I mentioned that you should not use Internet Explorer....ever.  As far as browsers go, there are worse options than IE, but no one uses those. Internet Explorer doesn't have as many extension or add-ons as other browsers like Chrome or Firefox. Also, Internet Explorer (IE) does not receive updates as frequently. Meaning, if you have a sweet new feature or moving graphics on your website, even if your IE is totally up to date, the new feature/moving image may not display or work correctly.

Not CASH!! No one ever clears out the cash they have laying around. I'm talking about the little bits of data stored on your website or browser to help with future data requests being served up faster.

Clearing the cache, whether it's for your website or local browser, is one of the most powerful troubleshooting tools available. When you clear the website cache, it releases all the stored data that helps the page load faster. Removing the cache also forces the website to refresh and updated any content that has changed.

Wecome back to another Drupal 7 FAQ support tip. In the last blog post, I layed out how to add and image to your website. Now I'll walk you through how you can publish and unpublish products from your online catalog. It's easier than you think.

Product Catalog: Publish and Unpublish

We get a lot of requests to help people add or remove items from their online product catalog. As long as the product is already available in your catalog website, it's pretty easy to add or remove items your online catalog.

Wecome back to another Drupal 7 FAQ support tip. In the last blog post, I mapped out how you can fix broken links in your website. Now I'll walk you through now to add images to your site. It's quite simple as you will see.

Adding An Image

Adding an image to a page is similar to adding a link, with a few differences.

    • Log into your site, then go to the page where the link in question lives.
    • Click the edit tab at the top of the page, and this will take you to a screen that allows you to edit the page content.
    • Then click in the content where you would like the image to be placed.
