More than five years ago, Tribute Media announced an experiment called "Office Free Fridays." We shared far and wide on social media and sent an email to all our clients, letting them know what to expect. We wanted to help our employees with work-life balance, but frankly, we were a little concerned our clients would be upset with us.

Best Places to Work in Idaho 2016
Last year, Jillian and I attended the Best Places to Work in Idaho ceremony for the first time. We felt proud to be surrounded by so many incredible local employers, and we were buzzing with anticipation (and maybe a little wine).
Autumn Kersey of Treasure Valley Children's Theater began calling up winners from our category. Believe me, we were so honored to be there, we would have been thrilled to be called up first to accept the 10th place award. With each winner that wasn't us, our eyes grew wider. 10th, 9th, 8th, 7th--and these were amazing companies we respect and admire! We couldn't believe it when Autumn announced her "friends in downtown Meridian, Tribute Media" for 5th place.
UPDATE: Thursday, April 14, we attended the Best Places to Work in Idaho award ceremony. It was a lovely event that brought together many of Idaho's top employers. As if it weren't enough to be surrounded by so many amazing people committed to being employers of choice, we also had the honor of accepting the award for 5th place in our category!
Each year Best Places to Work in Idaho awards several businesses in different categories the honor of being the best place to work. We are elated to announce that one of 2016’s winners in the category of Micro Employers (10 – 19 employees) was Tribute Media! We will now hold for applause and melodramatic adulation.
In my more than 20 years of employment, I have learned some key things about my own level of productivity. I've learned that in the morning I'm almost never very productive. I get a second (or third or fourth) wind as the day wears on. Sometimes I need a change of scenery. Sometimes I need to close the door and sometimes I need to invite others in to bounce ideas.
More often than not, I need a place that allows me to focus on what I need to focus on without the distractions of phone, email, people, etc. In fact, as I write this blog post, I'm not at the office. I'm away at an undisclosed location to focus.
We have exciting changes happening at Tribute Media, and one of them involves the Tuesday Tips that you receive in your inbox every week.
Why would We do such a thing?
In an effort to make things easier and to create a better experience for you (and for us), we are implementing Tuesday Tip emails that give you that much more each week. We all love free stuff, but what do we love more? Free stuff with our free stuff. That is basically what we are doing for you in the future.
Instead of giving you "Tuesday Tips" as they have been previously known, we will be sending you our favorite and most informative blog of the previous week on Tuesdays. With that, we will send you links to blogs within our emails that fit the topic of the main squeeze. Free stuff with your free stuff. You're welcome.
BOISE, Idaho – The fifth installment of Idaho Startup Weekend will take place October 26th through October 28th at Hotel 43 in downtown Boise. First created in 2007, Startup Weekend is an international event that provides entrepreneurs an opportunity to test their startup business ideas. With the tagline, “No Talk, All Action,” Idaho Startup Weekend will give aspiring innovators an opportunity to commercialize their ideas in just one fast-paced and exhilarating weekend.
In the short 54 hour time frame, participants pitch their ideas, form teams, and build a viable product. Startup Weekend likens the event to “an MBA in a weekend” because it helps professionals learn through the act of creating. Idaho Startup Weekends attract the best and brightest in the Boise community, therefore the event helps participants build long-lasting relationships with influential people. According to internal statistics from the organization, Startup Weekend held 260 events in 67 countries and startups incubated at its events received at least $30 million in outside funding last year alone.
