The Tribute Team
Corey SmithFounder & Digital Marketing Strategist
Corey started Tribute Media in 2007. Prior to that, he worked in the office equipment industry for 8 years, served as a Color Systems Specialist for Canon USA and taught graphic design for the Web at the University of Utah. He holds a B.A. in Information Technology and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.
A bit of an autodidact, Corey taught himself how to make graphics on his Mac when he was 21. IKON Office Solution was so impressed by his skills that they hired him to run their graphics department in Salt Lake City.
Over the years, Corey has worked to share his knowledge and talents with others. "I figure that a talent that can’t be shared isn’t a talent worth having," he said. He is the author of two books, Do It Right: A CEO’s Guide to Web Strategy and Tweet It Right: A CEO’s Guide to Twitter.
Corey lives in Meridian with his wife Jen and five children. "Yeah… a full house."
Jillian FraDirector of Operations
Jillian moved from Connecticut to Boise in 2002. Prior to joining the Tribute team, she worked as an executive assistant and owned (and sold) an Errand and Concierge business. In her own words, "Everything I have done has been centered around taking care of people and making sure things get done." That is what Jillian loves about her career!
Jillian served as Project Manager before moving up to her current position as Director of Operations. She loves working at Tribute Media because of the people and the fun-loving but professional office culture. She’s also grateful for the chance to contribute directly to the company’s growth and work her way up to Partner.
Outside of work, Jillian enjoys cooking, entertaining, organizing everything, making lists and spending time with her husband Will and their two super cute daughters, Lily and Emma.
Lindsey BowshierDirector of Web Strategy
Lindsey holds a B.A. in English and Communication with an emphasis in Journalism. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she worked at Sam Goody (when that was still a thing), wrote for and managed a few publications, and ran her own copywriting and content marketing business before joining the Tribute team.
Lindsey appreciates the less-than-a-mile commute that living in Meridian allows and loves Tribute Media because "sometimes my cheeks hurt from smiling and laughing so much at work. No, seriously. It’s true."
Outside of work, Lindsey participates in a "super-cool-not-at-all-nerdy" writing group. Her favorite writer is Dorothy Parker, and her bucket list items include writing a '90s nostalgia book and seeing En Vogue live ("I might have to add ’build time machine’ to accomplish the latter."). Her proudest accomplishment is creating a human child and managing to keep him alive. “He is 10 years old now and pretty hilarious. Go me!"
Jay GormanProject Manager
Jay holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Northwest Nazarene University. He grew up in Denver and moved with his family to the Boise area in 2010. Prior to joining the Tribute team, he worked mainly in the healthcare industry.
When not at work, Jay enjoys staying active outdoors and travelling. His proudest accomplishments include “marrying my best friend almost two years ago and gaining the opportunity to work for Tribute Media.”
Favorite things about Boise: “I really enjoy the affordability, outdoor recreation, semi-predictable weather and being only minutes from downtown.”
Two bucket list items: “I have always wanted to swim with great white sharks (in a cage, of course) and travel to all seven continents.”
Dream place to live: “My dream is to live somewhere in the mountains with waterfront property, a dock, water sport toys and all the time in the world to enjoy them.”
Mary WoolfMarketing Consultant
Raised by a military family, Mary lived all over the U.S. before coming to Idaho in 1977. She has handled sales and marketing in a wide variety of fields for more than 15 years. Her work experience also includes running a health club fitness program, where she trained more than a dozen instructors.
Mary enjoys working at Tribute Media because of our team’s ability "to face anything and to dive into new adventures together." When she isn’t taking care of Tribute Media’s marketing efforts, she enjoys gardening, camping, fishing and target shooting.
As far as her favorite Muppet goes, she’s split between Statler and Waldorf ("The ultimate peanut gallery.") and Gonzo ("My favorite stuntman or chicken or whatever."). Her biggest guilty pleasure is "a big fat juicy hamburger and a beer. And eating it on a deck in the sun would be even better."
Nikki WardleAccount Marketing Manager
An Idaho native, Nikki holds a degree in Marketing from BSU. She started working for Tribute Media in late 2014 and has already become an invaluable member of our team.
Favorite thing about working at Tribute Media: "I love the people that work here. Everyone has a great sense of humor!"
Favorite thing about Idaho: "I love that the mountains are so close. Spending time by a lake in McCall or Cascade in the summer is one of my most favorite things."
Proudest accomplishments: "As a mother, I have to say my kids. As a working professional, learning the basics of PHP."
Favorite version of David Bowie: "Labyrinth"
Favorite Muppet: "Elmo."
Biggest guilty pleasure: "Wine!"
Don ElliottArt Director & Strategist
Don grew up in the Seattle area before moving with his family to Boise as a teenager. He holds a degree in Multimedia and Web Design from the Art Institute of Seattle and has worked in web design for over a decade.
He describes his duties in the following way: "I sit in on a project from the very beginning to help set a strategic direction in terms of design and functionality. My job is to take a client’s challenges, vision, and goals and help direct our team into coming up with a web-based solution that gets the job done."
Don enjoys working at Tribute Media for the chances to solve problems and to "see what you can create when you’re surrounded by people who are so good at what they do." He enjoys living in Idaho because it has four seasons as opposed to "just the one-year-long season where it rains."
Proudest Accomplishment: "I’m kind of funny-looking, but somehow, I managed to help create the two most adorable children to ever walk the face of this earth."
Favorite Muppet: "I love Beaker. In my opinion, he is the most articulate Muppet and he has one heck of a work ethic."
Born and raised in Boise, Steve holds a B.S. in IT and Software Engineering. He ran his own construction company before the 2008 market crash forced him to close it.
Steve enjoys working at Tribute Media because of its relaxed atmosphere and supportive office culture. He has been married for over 20 years and is the proud father of two children, Brenden and Baylee.
Favorite things about the Boise/Meridian area: "Four seasons, close to the mountains, all that is good about city life without many of the bad things that usually come along with it."
Dream place to live: "Somewhere in the mountains. It’s always quiet, and I love the fresh air. Would love to have a log cabin somewhere near Garden Valley or Crouch with some waterfront property."
Norm SchurdellDevelopment Manager
Norm brings a diverse set of experiences to the Tribute team. He holds degrees in electronics engineering, graphic design and ministry. Prior to coming to work for Tribute Media in the summer of 2016, he lived in the Sacramento, CA area and worked in all of the fields listed above.
Norm likes Idaho for its “slower pace and open spaces.” His interests outside of work include sports, adventuring and fine art.
His favorite things about working at Tribute Media: “Developing people and processes, the fun and energetic environment and location, location, location.”
Norm’s proudest accomplishments are marrying his wife and being a dad to three awesome kids. His top two items on his bucket list are to go skydiving and visit Australia.
Ben SchultzContent Writer
Ben joined the Tribute team in late 2014. Originally from Santa Monica, he holds a B.A. in English from UC Santa Barbara and has lived in Boise off-and-on for approximately 20 years. In addition to writing content for Tribute Media, he is a regular freelance contributor to *Boise Weekly’s* music section.
Ben enjoys working for Tribute Media because he can associate with good people and gets paid to write and learn new things. He misses Southern California, but he loves Boise’s laid-back vibe and burgeoning music, literature and art scenes. He owns more gangsta rap albums than he ever thought he would and tries not to bore people with his obsessions with The Clash, James Brown and The Wire.
Anthony JohnsonDevelopment Intern
A recent addition to the Tribute team, Anthony moved to Idaho from Montana and is working towards a degree in IT with a concentration in software development. He’s been learning the ropes in our dev and support departments, and we look forward to having him work with our clients and keep their websites in good working order.
His favorite thing about living in Idaho: “The great outdoors is never far away!”
Sarah (Wagar) WaiContent Specialist
An Oregon native, Sarah went to college at Oregon State University, where she graduated with a B.S. in Media Communications. During her time in college, she interned as a marketer for The Columbia Gorge Pregnancy Resource Centers, where she derived a passion to use her media and marketing experience for the success of others.
Her thoughts on being part of the Tribute team: “The people, by far, are one of the best aspects of working at Tribute Media. They are friendly, funny, and so helpful. The teamwork and sense of camaraderie are refreshing.
Biggest guilty pleasure: “Curling up on the couch with a cup of coffee and watching Gilmore Girls. It never gets old."
Matthew ContosDevelopment Intern
Originally from western Washington, Matt is currently in college and helping out Tribute’s dev team. He’s worked in various industries, including construction (“Dump trucks, concrete mixers and any piece of yellow equipment you can name”).
On top of his web development skills, Matt has a commercial drivers license and a private pilots license. “And I think I stumbled upon the perfect spaghetti sauce,” he added. “No, I’m not telling.”
His favorite thing about living in Idaho: “Definitely a slower pace of life compared to western Washington. I love Meridian—I actually feel a sense of community here.”
Favorite TV show: “*Happy Days.* Why? The Fonz don’t need a reason why.” Biggest guilty pleasure: “Ordering a pizza to sabotage my diet. Thin crust. Siracha in hand.”
Katie WalshMarketing Consultant
Katie grew up in Seattle, WA. She graduated from Washington State University in Pullman with a degree in Marketing in May 2016. Before joining Tribute Media, she worked various jobs in the restaurant and hospitality industries “mostly because of my love for people and the high-energy environment it creates.”
Katie appreciates Tribute Media’s welcoming, supportive atmosphere. “Being new, it can be kind of intimidating entering a new workplace. Often having many questions throughout the day, I feel as though I can go up to anyone and ask for help.”
One of her life goals: “To complete my first marathon. I have always had this as one of my biggest fitness goals and think it would push myself beyond my limits!”
Her biggest guilty pleasure: “Oh boy… My biggest guilty pleasure would have to be my Diet Coke addiction. I hate to admit it, but I am *that* girl who goes to McDonald’s drive-thru just to get a $1 large Diet Coke with light ice. Yes, the light ice is crucial.”
Wally NarwhalMascot & Unicorn of the Sea
Wally appeared at Tribute Media not long after we opened for business back in 2007. Admittedly, we weren’t sure at first if he’d make a good fit—how could he type with those fins?—but he quickly won us over with his spunky attitude and can-do spirit. He shows us everyday why the narwhal is called the “unicorn of the sea” (but don’t tell him we said so—a while back, he kept pestering Corey to give him a plaque with that inscribed on it).
Wally likes making his Tribute Media coworkers laugh. He stays active on social media: His Twitter page has over 1,000 followers. Outside of work, he enjoys deep sea diving and travelling. His favorite locations include the San Francisco bay area and the Arctic Circle (guess he doesn’t mind the cold weather).Certifications
