Social Media Contest Campaigns
Social media contest are fun! Who doesn’t like to be a part of something fun and maybe win a prize! What company doesn’t want their audience raving and sharing news about their new product and how they can win? Contests on social media platforms, such as Facebook, are a great way to engage with your customers, encourage brand awareness, and build a relationship with your target audience.  Campaigns can be a quick way to engage with your customers and drive traffic. You don’t have to be a big company to reap the benefits of these campaigns, and you don’t have to break the bank to see a return on your investment.
There are three simple steps to take to get the most out of your campaign:
1.    Define Your Goal And What Success Looks Like.
Why are you having this contest? Are you trying to get the word out about your new product? Do you want to grow followers, increase “likes,” boost engagement, or drive traffic? It could be something as simple as rewarding your loyal current customers for fun. No matter what you set your goal as, always have a goal!
Next take a few minutes and think about what success looks like for your campaign. If you are doing a photo contest, maybe having 40 people submit photos to your contest is a good goal. Maybe having 100 people interact with your campaign is your end goal. Think about what you want to use as a marker for success.
2.    Choose An Appropriate Social Media Channel.
This is a great time to take an in-depth look at your target audience. Who are you trying to reach with this campaign and where will you find them? Are they on Instagram? Is your target audience on Twitter?
Here are a few popular sites to consider:
Twitter: The best opportunity that twitter offers for campaigns is having your campaign up and running in a matter of minutes and using #hashtags or @reply you can effectively measure success and interactions.
Facebook: While Facebook is still a very popular option for businesses, they have made it increasingly harder to have your posts reach your targets audiences’ news feed organically. Businesses that have had the best success have tied their contest to their target audience personal interests to reach newsfeeds organically.
Instagram:  Instagram is a great outlet if you are looking to gain interactions, #Hashtag use, or photo submissions. Using Instagram gives you a variety of options for interaction and branding.
Pinterest: Pinterest allows you to really narrow down your target audience and help spread branding exposure for new or old products. Asking your contestants to #PinItToWinIt helps you keep track of participants.
3.    Break Out The Tool Box.
Now that you have made your goal, your campaign, and chosen your social media outlet it’s time to put your marketing tools to work. There are countless third party tools you can use to manage, track and execute your contest campaign.
#Hashtag: make a unique hashtag that is dedicated to your campaign.  Make sure your hashtag is not already in use by a different campaign or company. Hashtags make it easy to track success and submissions.
Google Analytics: Use this tool to track traffic to your site and specific pages.
Facebook Analytics: This tool can help you track engagement, submissions, and “likes”.
HootSuite: Popular media dashboards such as HootSuite allow you to share posts and updates across multiple platforms at one while it tracks interactions, mentions and activity with the promotion.
Social media contests are fun for the end user and a great marketing tool for your company. Put together a contest for your next marketing strategy and see the countless benefits. If you have nay questions or need help with your social media marketing, contact us to learn more!
