We all know holiday season is an insane time of year. We are all pushed to the limit and it seems like a never-ending roller coaster beginning November 1. There are some things that just have to get done. Here is a list of 10 things for marketers to do in order to be successful during this holiday season.
Plan your revenue by day
This will provide you with quick indicators throughout the campaign to let you know if you are going to be short of goal or over goal. This will help you create a strong strategy for moving forward.
Review your revenue performance to date.
Did you break even? Have you not made enough or made too much? Whatever the trend, plan on the same trend continuing and build your strategy around it.
Review your marketing performance to date.
Which platforms are working for your business? Are there some that need to be eliminated or spruced up to standard? Whatever the trend, plan on the same trend continuing and build your future budgets around it.
Get everyone on the same page.
Bring all marketing managers into a room at least once a week to make sure everyone is talking about performance, upcoming events, etc. This will help build the same foundation for each person for events so that you eliminate confusion and miscommunication.
Know your merchandise.
Re-evaluate what is selling and what isn’t. Adjust your campaigns accordingly. Have your marketing managers explain what your company offers to you in a group and make sure you are all representing the same thing. This will make for a stronger brand image and define a clear business objective.
Listen to your customers.
If they aren’t happy, you shouldn’t be happy. Make sure things are getting done in project in terms of priority. Performing tasks on time and having open communication with your client is one of the best ways to establish a good relationship.
Hold yourself accountable.
If you miss you mess up ,accept it, fix it, and move on. Mistakes will happen. You have to expect them and know how to fix them efficiently.
Stress rarely leads to profitable action.
Stop. Take a breath. Then act.
Remember to sleep.
Remember to eat.
You can choose to run around like a chicken with your head cut off for the next two months, or you can choose to make it fun, push the limits, do cool things, lead your clients/teams, and make an impact on the business. There’s no way to avoid the holidays, so why not choose to enjoy them?
