Robin:...the future is scary. But you can't just run back to the past because it's familiar...
In the wise words of Robin from How I Met Your Mother, the past might feel awful comfortable, but you can't go back to it for that reason only. How does this tie into web marketing? In every possible way.
From your website to the keywords you go after, your company has to constantly be changing in order to survive. This includes everything, everything such as:
Making these legendary means they're current. You can't be what was cool six years ago, and with the quick moving trends of the Internet, you can't afford to be what was cool six months ago. Google is making updates all the time, causing a current website to be paramount. Website trends are changing, moving away from the 3D model into a flat design. Google cares a ton about relevant, recently added content. Brands are incredibly competitive, and unfortunately it's hard to be original these days. Your SEO keywords, have you revamped those lately? Might wanna consider that. And, of course, your marketing tactics absolutely have to be current to the day. If everyone is on Twitter, you had better get on Twitter, and fast.
But as Lily Aldrin says, "You can’t just skip ahead to where you think your life should be."
This applies to your brand. It's going to take some work before your website, content and rankings are where you want them to be. Don't cheat at SEO, don't post spun and unoriginal content, and please, please don't have some friend's cousin in Poughkeepsie build your website.
