Having the right social media marketing campaign during the holiday season can mean the difference between cookies and notes of gratitude beneath the company tree or lumps of coal on each desk. Stress is high for every business during the busy season. With a little planning, careful consideration, and a dash of sugar and spice, holiday social media marketing can get your brand in front of even more potential customers. Great marketing doesn’t rely on a huge budget these days. It’s all about innovation. You can have a huge effect on your consumers through your social media marketing and it’s even FREE!

Check out a few tips for your holiday social media marketing:

Happy Holidays or Merry Christmas?

Don’t be pushy with your sales. Being too aggressive will make your users unfollow your feed and ultimately unlike you. Be sure to consider the audience. A lot of businesses say Happy Holidays during this time of year, but that might not be appropriate for your brand. You have to be aware of what your audience could find offensive, even if you may disagree. At Tribute we say Merry Christmas. It suits our customer and who we are as a brand.

Stay on it.

Write your content in advance and set it up to be scheduled. Hootsuite is a great website for this task. You need to make sure you are checking your scheduled posts often. Things will happen and plans will change. Remember to check back on those previously scheduled posts to make sure they are still appropriate and relevant.

Have a plan in place.

It’s good to always have this in place. Social media posts can spiral out of control, especially during the holidays. If your content has potential to offend someone, be sure to involve a manger in the office that has experience in interaction with crisis management. This way you won’t say the wrong thing and potentially loose business.

This holiday season is coming to a close but, it is a good idea to start now on your holiday planning for 2014. This way you can analyze what worked for this year and where you want to make changes. The longer you do it, the easier it will get.
