You've made the decision to make your web presence shine, and have hired a web developer to make you a beautiful new website. Great! Having an experienced web development company build a website for you can be a cooperative, rewarding experience. Or it can also be a grueling struggle with lackluster results, IF you don't follow this one important rule:
There is nothing more important than trusting the experts you hired to be, well, experts. They want nothing more than for you to have a beautiful website that wows your visitors, but this can only be accomplished through working together and having faith that they know what they are talking about.
I often see people excited to start the process of building their brand new website, until it comes time to think about the nitty-gritty details. It is easy to overlook things like best practices for navigation and an intuitive end-user experience. As much as you love the that pop-up of “relaxed industry professional” as way to greet users to the site, we promise that your users do not love it nearly as much.
Is it important that you like your site? Sure.
Is it more important that your prosepcts and customers can get the inforamtion they need from your site? Absolutely.
Your strategist will ask questions about who you are trying to attract and what you want them to do on your website, then your development team will design the website to impress and accomadate your end-users. The point is, as well as you know your industry, that is how well your developer knows web design. I promise that giving you a gorgeous website that makes sense to visitors is your web developer's top priority.

I must stress that It’s also important for your developer to listen to you. Have conversations. Be part of an open dialogue about what’s best for all. Be open to new ideas. But most importantly, trust that you’ve made the right decision in hiring an expert, and you will find yourself with a website you can be proud of.
