A misconception that SEO doesn’t work is often established when more traffic is coming in with little to no increase in sales. SEO can help to drive sales but that doesn’t mean it works all on it’s own. An increase in traffic provides you more opportunities to sell and the rest of your web marketing efforts will turn that visit into a sale.

Just because people have arrived at your site does not mean they are going to buy. Use other web marketing tactics to harness the traffic that your SEO is bringing in.

Meet Conversion Rate Optimization: not as well known as search engine optimization but equally important. CRO is what you are going to use to turn the additional traffic into a buying customer. Here are a few ways you can do that:

  • Have a clear call to action for your traffic to follow once they arrive
  • Give them the information they need to make the purchase, pick up the phone or click further
  • Use your website to answer questions before they are asked
  • Show them why others made the purchase with testimonials and case studies

So the idea is to not get lost in clicks, views, bounce rates, etc. and keep your site optimization in mind. It’s all about balancing your marketing with your SEO so that they compliment each other. SEO brings traffic in and site optimization impresses them once they arrive.
