Buying Local

With ongoing hard economic times, a lot more people started considering what it means to buy locally. Keeping jobs local, sustaining your local economy, fresh food, etc. One of the reasons I prefer to buy local is the service that comes along with it.

I love going to a local restaurant, farmers market, or local shop because the service is great and people take the time to get to know you. One business in particular that I have remained a faithful patron of even though it would be a lot more convenient to go with a national brand is Hastings.

I know Netflix would be easier, possibly even more cost effective but I love going to Hastings.  The employees there seem so happy and really enjoy their jobs. I have witnessed long lines but the customers are calm because the employees are just so personable, helpful and nice.

Recently, I had a bad experience at Hastings. It is sad that it took one bad experience for me to realize how great their service has been for 15 years. The only reason I realized how great they are at service is when I finally experienced the opposite.  I am happy to say it was a one-time fluke and we are back to the wonderful experience of shopping local for movie rentals.

If service is important to you, stick local!
