custom RSS fields in Drupal

If you like to create a custom RSS feed in Drupal, it is pretty simple. You just need to load the Views module and make sure that you have a content type that you want to have a feed for.

Drupal 6 basic menu management

Managing and creating new menus in Drupal 6 is a much easier process than in previous versions of Drupal. You can create menus for various purposes. They can be drop down (or suckerfish) menus. They can be menus for primary and secondary links. You can even use a menu to quickly populate links in a blogroll or list of sites that you like to visit.

Drupal 6 Block Management

block layouts In Drupal 6, sidebar content (or content other than the page content) is managed through blocks. Depending on how many block regions you might have, you can have content in a number of different locations on your page throughout your site.

You’ll notice on this page that there is a sidebar, an image above the content about education and four orange buttons linking to other areas of the site. These are all contained in blocks. Even the drop down menu at the top is contained in a block.

This structure makes it easy to reconfigure your site in no time flat.

Drupal 6 Custom Login Block

Drupal Login Block Sometimes the login block that is created from a Drupal theme isn’t as pretty as we might like. The ability to create custom login block really can be useful. Of course, you can take the time to edit the template files, but that can be complicated.

In this tutorial, we have two different components for a custom login block. The first is the block for logging in and the second is the block for when you are logged in. For both of these options, you’ll need to have the ability to use the PHP input type. If your user role doesn’t have the ability, you won’t be able to use this tutorial.

Drupal is a spectacular platform for social networking sites. We use the platform to great success for blogging. Out of the box, however, it doesn’t handle RSS as well as an experienced individual in the world of Web 2.0 would like.

Using the views module, you can create great RSS feeds from various content types.

The problem, however, is that the feed doesn’t show at the top of web browsers (like my image below of FireFox).
